I am researching my paternal ggrandfather's family but I don't have much to go on and have hit a dead end. His name was Levi Stinson. Middle name probably Moses and on the 1900 federal census he is listed as Moses. His 3rd wife and my ggrandmother was Sarah Louise Williams. She told my grandfather she was full Cherokee Indian. I have one picture of the two of them and she does look indian. Levi is short and looks white haired and could pass for Irish. On the later cenuses 1920 and 1930 he is listed as Levi. I can't find anything definitive prior to his marriage to Sarah in Clark Co., MO in January 1900. He was born between 1857 and 1965. He died 26 May 1941 in Alton, IL (Madison Co.) Sarah died same place in 1935. Levi supposedly traded a horse and cart for Sarah. Their first born Mary Agnes "Mayme" was born April 1900. That's only 4 months after they wed.??? No one ever talked about Levi's parents or siblings. We know quite a bit on Sarah's side except where the Indian came in. Levi says he was born in Illinois but I can not find record of it. If anyone has any ideas on how to proceed it would be very much appreciated.
