I have found them listed in 1850 Hancock County (Carthage) Illinois Census (name listed as William M.B. Ferguson) - the 1860 listing that you also found - 1870 census in Folker Township, Clark County, Missouri - 1880 Clark County Missouri Census lists W.B. Ferguson at age 52.
If I remember correctly - I'd have to check my album (doesn't everyone keep a photo album of tombstone photos?) there is no death date on William's tombstone. He and Mary are buried at Black Oak Cemetery north of Granger.
