While it's not common for the marriages to be so close to the birth of the child, it has happened. I know of at least two instances where the child was born pretty shortly after the marriage... in one case the couple was married the 24th of June and their first was born the 4th of Aug, same year. In the other, the parents were married the last of December and their first child was born the first of March. Here is some additional info that we've found which may help you: 1850 United States Federal Census Name: William E Marlow Age: 39 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1811 Birth Place: North Carolina Gender: Male Home in 1850(City,County,State): District 19, Clark, Missouri Household Members: Name Age William E Marlow 39 Elijah Marlow 8 Elizabeth Marlow 6 Adeline Marlow 4 Mary Marlow 2 William E. Marlow married Elizabeth Brown 26 Sept 1850. Wiliam then died around May of 1853, intestate - he has probate record in Clark Co MO, bond was issued 31 May 1853, $1400. Admin is Bryon W. Schoonover, securities are Granville Chewning and Abner Schoonover. Heirs were his children, Elijah, Nancy, Adaline, Mary & infant, christian name unknown. Widow (Elizabeth) not named in bond. William had a farm, 80 acres which was sold 7 Nov 1854, to Jacob Gates. Elijah was indentured out 4 Aug 1853 at the age of 11 or 12, bound to Charles Evans until the age of 21. Elizabeth Brown Marlow married James Turtle 7 Jan 1854. Angeline is the infant child, name not known in probate, she was born 18 Oct 1852 and James Turtle "adopted" her. She died 17 Jul 1854. Elizabeth, wife of James, was born 15 June 1815 and died 17 May 1888. James Turtle was born 16 Apr 1818 and died 10 Feb 1889. They are buried in Turtle cemetery. Now, am not sure when William came to Clark County, so will check a couple other records to see if we can find any additional info to help you solve the "mystery" of Adaline's parents. In the meantime you might check in California and see if you can find Adalines death record - and get an obituary. It may give you the name of her parents, etc. Notify Administrator about this message?
