I am searching for descendants of David Lindsey (also spelled Linzy, Linsey, etc.). David Lindsey was born in Jefferson County, TN and is recorded on the U.S. census there. On this census his surname was recorded as "LINZY". His age is recorded as 15 years. He was residing in the Henry and Anna Gann (also spelled GAN) household. Anna Gann is thought to have been David's older sister. On that 1850 census there was also listed in the GANN household, a Cassander Linzy (age 17) and a William Linzy (age 13). They are believed to have been siblings of David. It appears that their parents may have both been deceased when this census was taken and the minor children were living in the Gann household. There may be another brother, a Charles Linzy (Lindsey) also. Their father's name may possibly have been Charles also, but have no information as to who their mother's name was. David Lindsey moved to the state of Missouri sometime between 1850 and 1870 and was recorded on the 1870 U.S. Census for Cole County MO, Marion Township. In 1880 David Lindsey was recorded on the 1880 U.S. Census for Cole County, MO, Moreau Township. In 1900 and 1910 David Lindsey and his family moved to Miller County MO and resided in Franklin Township, Aurora Springs Village. They are recorded on those census records there. David Lindsey married Elizabeth Taylor on or about 1855. Elizabeth was the daughter of Hubbard Taylor and Sidney (Spradley) Taylor. David and Elizabeth Lindsey were the parents of 11 children which are as follows: Sidney Ann - Born Sept 8, 1856 Cenia (Cenay) Missouri - Born Aug 17, 1858 Martha Melvina - Born Nov 18, 1860, died July 9, 1863 Francis Emoline - Born Sep 30, 1864, died Oct 4, 1865 Robert David - Born Nov 3, 1866 William Charles - Born Jan 5, 1869 James Henry - Born Apr 3, 1871 Mary Ella May - Born May 11, 1873 Ruthie Bell - Born Nov 5, 1875 Louisa Elizabeth - Born May 30, 1878 John Bess - Born May 31, 1881 Note: The children's names were listed in David Lindsey's Civil War Pension file. After the death of Elizabeth, David Lindsey married twice more. First to Marion Hicks, and then to Minerva Hicks. Minerva Hicks was the widow listed on his death certificate. David was a Civil War veteran, serving in a Missouri Home Guard Unit. He enlisted in String Town in Cole County, MO. He received an invalid pension and his widow, also received a pension. David Lindsey died October 21, 1927 in Miller County, MO. He is buried along side his first wife Elizabeth in the town of Eldon, MO, in the Dooley Cemetery (Miller County, MO). I want desperately to find any Lindsey, Gann, or Hicks family members who may have information on the whereabouts of these lost family members.
