To help identify your Civil War soldiers go to this site: http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/
And click on soldiers; enter Vogel as a last name; tick Union and Missouri. Then you can see the 68 Vogels who fought from the state of Missouri. If you find some you feel are your soldiers copy their unit information.

I am a research at the National Archives here in Washington DC and will be happy to check for a pension for them, and copy at cost for you.

All of the Vogels that I traced from Germany to Missouri came from Upper Franconia in Bavaria. If you look at a German map locate the city of Bayreuth northeast of Nuremberg. To the south and southeast of Bayreuth are many Vogel families.
