I don't have a lot of information about the Henley family in Tennesee, unfortunately. I am hoping to get some research done in Washington County and Claiborne County in the next couple of months and will contact you if I find anything pertinent. My information indicates that my ancestor John Legate Henley was born in Washington County, TN, on 6 September, 1797, and was the son of James Henley and Dorcas Legate. James died in Washington County c. 1798 and Dorcas remarried, to William Jenkins. My source says that James Henley was a brother to a John Henley and that they were sons of George Henley. I have no documentation on any of this at this point. There is a will for James Henley in Washington County and I hope to get a copy of it soon.

John Legate Henley married Elizabeth Hoskins in Claiborne County, TN, and there are some deeds for John in Claiborne County prior to their moving to Cole County, Missouri, in the early 1830's.

I do not at present have names of any of John's siblings. I am hopeful that James' will may provide some of these. Don't have any info about anyone in Montgomery County,TN, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist! Good luck.
