There are several Joseph Y. and Joseph Young Steele's in the family who lived in Cooper Co., Missouri from around 1822. Family records that have been shared by other researchers say that one Joseph Young Steele, who was born in 1822 in Cooper Co., married Martha Ann Cordrey around 1842. She died in Feb 1861. He married 2nd Mrs. Masby Alexander in Feb 1862. His 3rd wife is said to have been Mary J. Burnett in some records, Martha J. Burnett in others, marriage date - 1865. Marriage records of Cooper Co., MO show: "Joseph Y. Steele to Mrs. Masby J. Alexander, 4 Feb 1862" "Joseph Y. Steele to Mary J. Burnett, 13 April 1865" New Lebanon Cemetery records online: "Steele, Martha A. died 14 Feb 1861; aged 41 yrs, 6 months, 17 days; wife of Joseph Y. Steele" "Steele, Martha J.; died 13 Dec 1863; aged 34 yrs, 2 months, 20 days; wife of Joseph Y. Steele" Who is Martha J. Steele? Since she died in 1863, she can't be Mary J. or Martha J. Burnett who married Joseph Young Steele (b.1822) in 1865. Could she have been the wife of the Joseph Young Steele born in 1843, son of John Addison & Sarah McFarland Steele? Unlikely since that family had moved to Texas by 1860 - although I haven't found that Joseph Young Steele in 1870 - possibly he went back to MO. Where are the two Joseph Young Steeles buried? They aren't listed in the online records for this cemetery. What was Mrs. Masby Alexander's maiden name? Where is she buried? Thanks Notify Administrator about this message?
