History of Cooper Co.,Mo.by johnson-1919 page 889 lists;
Wm.R.Phillips well known farmer. Parents were Martin G. and
Susan[HUFF]Phillips both who members of pioneer families in
this county and who spent their last days here. Wm.R. was b.2-18-1847. Martin G. b.1814 albabama came her in 1822 with his parents Jeremiah and Ann[brown]P. settled on gov-
erment land near Buffalo Pearie in Clear Creek Twp-Cooper co. Several members of my mothers families;Brown,Rathburn
and Woolery were early settlers of this area ca.1820 from
Madison Co.,Ky. Many of the settlers in this area were given land in this area after the 1812 Earth Quake in the
Boot Heel of Missouri. Many of the settlers were from Ky.
