I am searching for relatives of Eli McMannis who arrived in Dade County in about 1830-40 (perhaps later). He was from Monroe County, Tennessee (Sweetwater) and could possibly have been traveling with his in-laws/shirt-tail relatives. My gggrandfather, Josiah McGuire married Sarah McManus and spent his whole life in Sweetwater as did most of his children. His brother, Henry and brother-in-law, Eli McMannis, chose to travel on to Missouri. Eli had another sister besides Sarah (her name is unknown) and a brother named Joseph McManis (sp from Tax Records). Joseph might also have headed for Missouri.
