Charles Nealy MOBERLY lived most of his adult life in Iowa, found lastly Black Hawk County. His son Sanford Cox Moberly moved to Gentry Co. in Missouri 1866. Death records show Charles Nealy Moberly died May 23, 1867 and is buried in the cemetery INSIDE the town of Stewartsville, MISSOURI, in the county of Dekalb, directly South of Gentry Co., MO. His stone marker reads "Rev. C. N. Moberly" and lacking a full name, some might have overlooked him. The emblem at the top of his stone is an open Bible. Marriage records show that SUSAN AMANDA MOBERLY, the daughter of Charles Nealy and Susannah Epperson Moberly, was married in Dekalb Co., MO to LEMUEL FRENCH MATHIS June 16th, 1869 (after Charles death). The 1870 census for Dekalb Co., MO shows widow Susannah (Susan), MOBERLY, aged 59 as head of household, with son-in-law Lemuel French MATHIS, 20, his wife Susan Amanda, 16, and their one-month old son Charles, along with Mrs. Moberly's grand daugher Cora, who is 10, and the daughter of William Pedrow Moberly. Sanford Cox Moberly is in Gentry Co., MO in 1870, the next county N. of Dekalb, and he is 40, his wife Ruth is 35, Frank is 10, Rosa is 8, and William 4. Lemuel French MATHIS died Feb. 11, 1901 in N. Dakota. Susan Amanda moved with her entire family to Selah, Washington in 1907 where she remained until her death Jan. 16, 1953. Notify Administrator about this message?
