I am looking for a friend. First:-In a family Bible it has_ Cora wrote Lydia was her mother and "the lady Polly Ann Tobin raised me." Lydia Brinkley lived in Salem in the home of Rachael Parker. She say's she had 2 children of which 2 children are living.Neither are living with her.She was a laundress .She was not living with Rachael Parker in 1910.
Cora Brinkley Tobin was living with Polly Ann Winchester Stricklin Tobin in 1900.
Cora Brinkley married John Rudd in 1904 .Cora was born in 1889 d.Cal,1968/69.
As I have it in the story I have "The story goes that her mother dropped her off with neighbors while she(Lydia) and the oldre child went to the creek to do wash.Lydia never came back.
Cora and her sister were both illegitiment children.Lydia siad she was born in 1873(1900) Census.This may not be true.It happen's to be the same year that Rachael Parker was born.
I think the Tobin family lived close to the Texas County Line.
In the 1880 Sherrill Twn., Texas County, Mo census, their is a child 'Lidda Taylor'living wiht the Brinkley family.Her mother Martha must have first been ,arried to a Taylor.Lidda is about 10 yrs old.The head of family-Brinkley is born in England.Lydia Brinkley in the 1900 census says her father was born in England.
In earlier census John Julian was living in Texas County.He is brother to Jane Julian Winchester who is the mother of Polly Ann Winchester Stricklin Tobin.
