I understand, it gets real tough when the elders don't have a grandparents name to help out with. I now do have them in the 1860 and 1870 census, wow, a german speaking lady giving the french version of the name----------bummer but the first names and ages match up. Maybe not to likely but if you would get real lucky maybe there death records would have parents first names. You might try and see if the CA. death records would help you any. I can get the brothers on the census reaords if that would help you. I have not found the parents after 1880 yet.
