Mary Jane's parents are unplaced (so far) in the Mobley line. FATHER: James Mobley (b. 1800 in Virginia and eventually settled in Troup County, GA) MOTHER: Elizabeth (that's all I know) b. 1805 in Virginia) As far as I know known of her brothers and sisters lived in Murray County, GA. Mary Jane appears to be the oldest child being born in 1825. My Great-Great Grandfather, Washington P. Mobley, is next oldest being born in 1829. The other children that I have found from Troup County, GA census records are: William (1841), Sarah (1834); Elizabeth (1842); Madison (1842); Mary J (1850); and unnamed female (1859) - all from the 1860 census. I don't know if any are born between Mary Jane and Washington P. I also cannot find who James & Elizabeth's parents are in Virginia. I have been in touch with one of Mary Jane's descendants in Ark. She had four children by John Bates: Martha A. (01/18/1840); Greenberry Bates (12/12/1840) I have communicated with his descendant and he changed his name to "Berry Bates;" Washington (born about 1849); and George Columbus Bates (b. about 1856 and died 1940 in Mount Pleasant (Benton Co.), Arkansas. I have found one child from Mary Jane's marriage to Paul Ellis Brinegar: Henry Franklin (born about 1868). I hope this helps you. Ed Smith Valley, Al (orignially Hogansville, GA)
