Peyton and Ledford are listed in the 1830 Census of Walton Co. Ga as heads of households. I think Peyton named a son Ledford Canfield and that Peyton and Ledford are brothers. Ledford was in Gwinnett Co, Ga. in 1820 and both were in Fairfield Co. SC in 1810.

This is only speculation as far as any relationship is concerned. The Census then did not list family member names.

Since Peyton went north to Murray Co. GA and Ledford went west to St Clair Co. AL and later back to Carroll Co. Ga., I think (speculation) Ledford maybe the father of Hiram Mobley b.1814 who married Mary New b.1826 from VA. Hiram had a son Hiram Jr. b.1861

Great theory, now all I got to do is prove it. If anyone has anything I would appreciate it and am willing to share anything I have.
