Nettie: thanks for your reply. It is curious that the Independence County clerk's office claims there is no record of this marriage! If I ever get to Arkansas--I'm making a beeline for that courthouse to check it out for my self and get a photocopy! If I do, I'll post the confirmation so that others will know what to ask for. Middleton Thomas/MAVKerr were my great-grandparents; their son James was my grandfather.
