Further to my posting response of 11/11/98, my Alfred and Jemima Mobley moved to N/E Mississippi between 1837 and 1844. They named their sixth child Cynthia (perhaps after a sister of Alfred's). There's a possibility that sister could have been the Cynthia you are looking for (same generation). Alfred was born c. 1806 in either SC or GA.
