Katherine.
Maybe this may help you to find him. Have you checked the Social Sucrity Records for the name? Also your birth certificate may have something more than his name. Have you contacted either the Navy or Veteran's Administration for information. It would really help if you had his service number or part of it or the name of a ship or command where he served. Do you know about how old he was at the time of your birth. Do you know the name of the hospital where you were born? There might be some records there. It looks like he may have been born between 1920 and 1930. Here is the big question, do you know if he knew about you at all.
I hope that some of this helps you. I had a friend who was in this same situation, but he was killed in action in Vietnam before he could find the answer. His natural father did not know that he had a son to be proud of. He was in my Navy unit and earned the DSC (Distinguish Service Cross), Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. He recieved the DSC for saving several of his buddies and his PBR (Patrol Boat Riverine) by falling on a floating mine. He was buried with Honors in the National Cemetery in Washington, because he had no known relatives. But he is not alone now, because he lies with his brothers in arms.
