The youngest brother of my GG Grandfather, Drury (Drewry) Moberly (Mobley) was Charles Nealey (Nealy) Moberly, who was b. Dec. 22, 1809 in Rowan County, N.C.
He migrated at an early age to bring his widowed Mother closer to her other children, and lived most of his life in Iowa.
My quest is to trace the source of his middle name, Nealey, which I've seen spelled Neeley. His grandfather, Levin Moberly was from Maryland, then the family was in Virginia, Fairfield, S.C. and Rowan, N.C. where Charles Nealey was born.
As often happens, families migrated together and we know there were Neeleys where there were Moberlys. I wonder if you know of any connection close enough that would cause a baby boy to be given the Neeley middle name?
Any help or guesses welcome, Judith (a Moberly)
