Wyoming Mobleys (via Missouri)

The online source at the Denver Public Library tells me that the first Mobley born in the colonies was Cletus, born in Virginia in 1735. I am trying to find my connection with this lineage and prior to that with his ancestry (U.K.?) Here is what I know...My grandfather was Fred Sterling Mobley, presumably born in MO. in the 1890s. He was the oldest child of Theodore and Lucy Mobley who moved their brood of eight children to Wyoming in the early 1900s. My grandfather married Ethel Cheatham in Greybull, Wyo. in 1919. They were Baptists (not real good ones). I understand how they came to be in Wyoming but how did the Mobley's end up in Missouri? What kind of impact did the War Between the States have on their location. Both grandparents had a lot of Ozark lore to share but geneology records indicate that Mobleys initially came from a well-to-do lineage, possibly related to King George. What do you know? Thanks.
