Hello Michelle,
Recently I found out that my great, great, great grandfather William Mobley was born in South Carolina in the late 1700's. I don't know exactly where yet. He and his wife moved to Kentucky, then the family moved on to around Fairfax, MO in the northwesternmost corner. The family is listed as pioneers in the local libraries there. My aunt Harriett Mobley Cundall of Fairfax sent me tons of info. My grandmother Margaret M. Mobley was born in a sod hut somewhere in the northeast corner of Colorado where they had arrived by covered wagon. My father Robert Lee Mobley was born in 1913 in Laramie, WY. His parents moved to Fort Collins, CO where my grandfather was a restaurant owner. My dad was an artist and ran off to Los Angeles, went to art school and became an illustrator. He met my mom, Jane Barton (b. 1917, Detroit, MI) and I was born in L.A. in 1945. I moved around a lot and ended up in Walhalla, SC where I found out about my SC roots. Let me know if you want more info. (family tree, etc.) (My email is out of whack right now, keep trying - my provider assures me that he's "working on it."
Robin
