Barry:
There could possibly be a connection. My g-g-grandparents Alfred MOBLEY and Jemima WHITE MOBLEY were married on 4/8/1830 in Lauderdale Co., AL. (a short hop from your Franklin Co., AL., MOBLEY's). Alfred and Jemima moved to Monroe Co., MS., sometime between 1837 and 1844. They named their sixth child Cynthia, b. 1847, MS. This Cynthia married George Thomas WHEELER on 11/05/1868 in Chickasaw Co., MS. We have not been able to find Alfred's parents after a 45-year search but keep on digging. Alfred's birth place has been listed in various census reports as SC, TN, and NC. There were a couple of other Mobley's in N/W AL. at the same time as my Alfred--a Little Berry MOBLEY and a Wiley Washington MOBLEY. I have been communication with various researchers of their family lines but still have not made a positive connection with them. I would appreciate any additional information (dates, names of children, etc.) you might have on your g-grandmother Cynthia Catherine MOBLEY PENNINGTON.
