This is from a Book called Biographical Souvenir of the State of Texas, Printed in 1889.Copy is located on the Fannin County, Texas GENWEB site.
Thomas Lindsey Rogers is a native Texan and was born in Fannin County June 22, 1860. His father Edwin C. Rogers was a son of Joseph D. Rogers and a native of Tennessee. Edwin C. was educated at Murfreesboro, Tennessee and at Lexington, Kentucky. When still a young man he came to Texas and in 1840-41 prior to the admission of the state to the Union, was a member of the Texas congress. November 10, 1844 Edwin C. married Miss Nancy Lackey, daughter of George and Elizabeth (Modglin) Lackey.......
Note: The above Thomas was 15 years old at the time of George Lackey's death but was not born when his grandmother died.
The above name Modglin, being from Pope Co., Illinois leads me to believe that Elizabeth was a Modglin. Other research states she was the d/o Strangeman Modglin. There is a Strangeman Modglin in Pope County in 1820. He lived near Elizabeth Lackey.
Question: Is there two Strangeman Modglin's from North Carolina???
