Hi Peggy, I'm no relation, I just happen to have this information in amongst other genealogical stuff from around South Lanarkshire. I have the Grave Inscription for James Gall and Elizabeth Moffat. It also names some of their children who are buried with them and gives their dates of death and their ages when they died, which will help you find their death certificates which hopefuly will have James and Elizabeths parents names and possible fathers occupations. Both James and Elizabeth died after 1855, so their full death certificates can be found at It will cost you 6 pounds to look at them but you can print them off or save to file. Below is the Grave Inscription:

St Brides Churchyard, Douglas.

James Gall died 16.4.1860 aged 70, his wife Elizabeth Moffat died 1.6.1880 aged 81, children William died 23.3.1827 aged 1 and a half, John died 20.9.1843 aged 1, Janet died 25.11.1846 aged 8 and a half, James died 19.12.1890 aged 58, Hugh died 11.10.1895 aged 55.

I hope this has been of some use to you. Good luck with your future searches.
Regards Russ Jones
