A published bibliography verified the existence of some old newspapers at the Orilia Library. I talked with them today and they dug up two obits on Andrew Moffatt. They both claim that he was born in County Fermanaugh in
Ireland.
The only published record found is the hand copy of the burial register for the cemetery of St Andrew and St. James which verifies that many of Anrew Moffatt's family members are buried there with it verifying that Andrew did die 21 Jan 1873. (Simcoe County, Canada)
A reprint of an old 1867 Orilia gazetteer and directory gives some insightful early history of the area including the idea that in 1835 there were only six white families in the whole town one being Andrew Moffatt.
