Help with Samuel Benjamin Moffatt, b1818, Isle of Man
Posted by: Ray Moffatt (ID *****1353) Date: June 08, 2011 at 10:07:30

Samuel Benjamin Moffatt possibly born 1818 in Douglas Isle of Man, shown as 23 in the 1841 census. Married Elizabeth Lace and has 2 sons, Samuel Lace Moffatt (b 1848) and Charles Benjamin Moffatt (b 1850). He may have ran a school in 1836 and been head from 1848 to 1851 but he does not appear in the 1851 census although his wife and children do. Any help in finding out who his parents were and where they came from would be greatly appreciated. Also what happened to him? He may have traveled to New York on the Ticonderoga out of Liverpool arriving 8th April 1850 but his second son was being christened on 5th April ( was he there?). As I said any help or suggestions of where to look next greatly appreciated.
