                         2nd Annual
                     MOOREFIELD HOMECOMING

You are cordially invited to join us for the 2nd annual
"Moorefield Homecoming", being held Saturday, September 27,
2003 at Staunton River State Park, Scottsburg, Virginia.

Directions:  From South Boston, VA, proceed East on Rt. 360 to Rt.
344 (Scottsburg Rd.) and turn right.  Proceed through Scottsburg,
bearing right at Scottsburg Baptist Church onto MacDonald Rd. Go
about 10 miles to the Park entrance and follow the red balloons to
the Reunion site.  If coming west on Rt. 360, turn right onto Rt. 716
at the Exxon Station across from the second Clover exit, and follow
the signs to the Park entrance. Follow the red balloons to the
Reunion site.

There will be a $3.00 Park entry fee per vehicle. The site has a
shelter and tables for food and picnic tables scattered through out
the area. However, as we anticipate a large crowd, we recommend you
consider bringing either a blanket or lounge chairs just in case
seating is insufficient. There is also a play area for the kids, boat
ramp access and a swimming pool nearby. (The Park charges a small
additional fee for using the boat ramp and pool.)

Who is invited:  Anyone whose name is Moorefield (of any spelling!)
or who has a Moorefield ancestor. Please notify your relatives about
this event, in case we may have missed someone with this mailing.

The Homecoming is being held in conjunction with the Morefield
Research Exchange (MRE). This research group is composed of our
distant and not so distant "cousins" from other states who
meet
annually to continue researching our family heritage and exchange
information. Last year we had cousins from Virginia, North Carolina,
Tennessee, Illinois, Alabama, and Georgia.

What to bring: A covered dish of your choice for a shared luncheon,
old family photos, family bibles or other family documents or items
that could provide historical information on our Moorefield heritage.
We would also like to invite anyone who plays a musical instrument to
bring it and play along with some cousins you've never met
before.

What is planned:  Below is a tentative schedule of planned events

       11:00 AM – 12:00 PM:       Arrival & Socializing

       12:00 PM –  1:00 PM:       Lunch
1:00 PM -  2:00 PM:       For those interested, Bill
Moorefield will give a narrative on our beginnings in this country,
and how our family evolved into the various Mo(o)refield lines. Other
researchers are also being asked to speak on the various lines they
are researching.
2:00 PM -  3:00 PM:       Musical entertainment. Anyone who
would like to share their talent is invited to do so. Please call one
of the organizers for scheduling.
3:00 PM –  6:00 PM:       Charts and other gathered
Moorefield info will be on display to help you determine your
personal line of ancestry. Bill, Laurie, Kathy, and others will be
available to assist you with your research.

Organizers: Kathy Butts       Nathalie, VA               (434)349-3371
            Laurie Lenz       Rustburg, VA               (434)845-2112
            Bill Moorefield   Martinsville, VA           (276)638-6001

Please contact one of the above if you have any questions or need
further information.
