Hi Judy: My husband's mother was a Moffield, (Mofield or Mayfield). The wedding license from Durant, OK has it spelled Moffield, but I have seen it on a census record as Mayfield. I have not done extensive research on this name yet, but Lou Irene Moffield married an Egbert Lambeth. I have info on the Lambeths-most of it being OK, TX and TN. Moffields then go to Barnetts. I agree that with the way that people heard the name and wrote it, that it could be spelled many different ways. Records of course were and are sparse I'm sure. I guess I have been leaning toward Mayfield spelling. Thought I would write and say hello and perhaps we can be of some help to this line. Thank you. Phyllis Lambeth
