You make a good point. Werner may have been

(1) not very nice,

(2) not very industrious,

(3) not very religious, or

(4) some or all of the above.

I would add that neither his siblings nor his (apparent) children seem to have named a child after him, which, in a German family of the period, is most unusual.

This is just speculation, of course, but I rather like the thought of having the blood of a few scoundrels in my veins. :-)
