I am only researching Mohnkern not Mohn or Moon. However, since there are so few Mohnkerns around, I suspect that some may have shortened the name to Mohn which may be alternatively spelled Moon. Do you know if your Moons came from Germany? The Mohnkerns reportedly came from Hanover Germany. Daniel is a common name in the Mohnkern family.
There are still Mohnkerns in Venango Co. to this day. Nancy
