New matches on Moore/Mohr SurnameY-DNA Project
This is an update on the Moore surname DNA project called MOORE-Worldwide.Established in April of 2003, the project is open to all MOOREs from any area and any spelling variant, including Moor, Mohr, etc.As of this date, we have 28 participants whose sample analyses are complete.Among those, we have been able to identify seventeen distinct family lines. What is exciting is that new matches are being made frequently.Four family groups have matches of up to five different participants.Several other participants are awaiting results.
As a reminder, this project tests the male Y-chromosome, which is passed only from father to son. Therefore, the testing requires a male with the surname of MOORE (or variant.) The test analyzes either the 12 or 25 markers on the Y-chromosome.If the markers of two or more male individuals of same surname match, it indicates they descend from a common male ancestor.Test results to date can be viewed at our website http://small-stuff.com/MOORE/http://small-stuff.com/MOORE/ .Additional information about the project is available at this site as well.
If you are a male MOORE, or have a male MOORE relative who would be eligible, we hope you will join this exciting project. On our website, http://small-stuff.com/MOORE/http://small-stuff.com/MOORE/, click on "Join the Moore-Worldwide DNA Project".We strongly recommend the 25-marker Y-DNAPlus test, which defines a common ancestor within a genealogically reasonable time frame.Simply fill out and submit the form and one of us will contact you.
