Parents of Daniel Molony
I am looking for any information which may lead to a trace on the parents of Daniel Molony 1803-1867. Daniel was born in Killaloe, Co Clare and was very well educated. He moved to the east coast, married Jane Murphy, a daughter of a strong farmer, and had nine children. He was a draper and later a shipping agent. Considerable correspondence between Daniel and Daniel O'Connell is extant.3 daughters and at least one son emigrated to Australia and 1 daughter to New Yorkn and 1 son to Philadelphia. His brother John was educated for the priesthood in France and he died during the famine as a parish priest in north Tipperary. Patrick Molony also was educated in France and he joined the Basilian Order which was centred in the French Alps and particularly in Annonay, France. Patrick was assistant to the second Bishop of Toronto Canada and was the first Basilian to work in Canada.I have addresses for Margaret (Marguerite) Molony who died in New York late 1800s and for Bridget Cahill wife of John Molony, Phildelphia from her obituary. I hope that this potted history strikes a cord with someone who can help me.
