Moncure/Mason/1872 b./Hinds Cty
I am looking for connections with my "Moncure" ancestors. Have found and met many Moncure descendants, both white and black. My great grandfather was Mason Moncure. Have been trying to trace how his "Mason" name connected to the family. I know from other white Moncures that most of my black ancestors of the 1870's had names based on white Moncures. The name "Jewel Mason Moncure" interests me. Would love to communicate with you. My family is centered in Hinds County, MS where many still live and own property. Some of the property was once a part of or near the Moncure Plantation owned by John E. D. Moncure, his brother was William A. Moncure and their lives can be documented in the Hinds area. The House of Moncure shows John and William Moncure "moved to Mississippi...but them the tree ends. There were many Moncures to follow on that tree.
