Frederick, scalped & killed, Washington Co., VA, 1776

I am not researching this family, just entering information from one of my books "Houses Virginians Have Loved" by Agnes Rothery, 1954:

"The children of Abingdon are particularly fond of a story about the wild and wicked Indians who were a constant threat to the town in its early days. In 1776, a band of them appeared in the neighborhood of Blacks Fort, scalped and killed Frederick Mongle and attempted to capture the Reverend Charles Cummings, William Crewswell and others."

There were no other listings for this family in the index.
