I am a descendant of William Josiah WARD and call tell you that there is no truth to James B. WARD being descended from Nahoga Moniac. This false connection was contrived by three WARD women back in the 1950s in an attempt to get "Indian money" from the government.A few hours of research will easily uncover documents that belie this connection. For instance, on 13 October 1827 Sam’l Monnack swore an afidavit to the Indian Agent at the Creek Agency. The following is extracted: “...personally acquainted with Jack Ward of said Creek Nation in his lifetime and with his family up to the time of his death, and that he knows that said Jack Ward died at his residence on a certain tract of land called Ward’s Reserve which is now a part of Montgomery County Alabama, which was granted to the said Ward under an Act of Congress that Mahaga Ward is the only wife of the said Jack Ward, and that John Ward and Susan Ward are the only children now living of the said Jack Ward that the deponent has known both the said John and Susan since the time of their infancy, and is well acquanted with them to the present time.”
Obviously, if Jack’s only living son in 1827 was named John, Jack can’t be James’ father. But lets carry this a step farther. If John and Nahoga only had one son, they can’t be the parents of the John WARD who married Nancy Knight either. It’s well documented that that John WARD had numerous brothers.Yet I’ve seen that Nancy KNIGHT lineage listed for those WARDs in many places.

WARD over the years and that lineage is all over the internet as fact.

WARD's line. The papers are in WORD6 format and will lose formatting of tables if put into text.RTF may preserve the formatting enough to make them readable, however, if someone doesn't have software that can open WORD6 documents.
