Hi Elizabeth,

Sorry I took so long to respond. I never heard anything about my grandfather working on the bridge but he did work in the Moore shipyard. That is what is listed as his last employer on his death cert. My grandmother, his daughter-in-law, told me that he worked on the Moore plantation. I'm not sure how much of this is correct.

She also told me that George may have been born in Brazil. His parents went there before arriving in Hawaii. My cousin was not able to find a birth record for him in Hawaii so it may be true that he was born in Brazil. His death cert says that the birth place was Honolulu but, as I said, my cousin researched that and could not find verification.

I don't know what island of the Azores George is from. His wife's family was from Sao Miguel but since they met in Hawaii that doesn't help much.

I don't think I mentioned this in my other post...George's mother's name was Margarette Mellon Moniz. I don't think I put the Mellon in last time.

Well, I hope this matches with something you have. Thanks for responding to my last post.
