Dear David,
I've had a look through my database and the 1901 census index but cannot find a John William Monson living in the Hampstead area of London.
I had a look at your history on genforum and you say Eileen Mary's parents died c1908/12 and she was adopted.Do you know the cirumstances of their deaths.Did they die at the same time (accident or illness maybe).
I have found one Mary Morris age 19 b Maestag, Glamorgan, Wales living in Hampstead at the time of the 1901 census, and another age 24 b Oldbury, Worcestershire (parlour maid).Either lady would be of the appropriate age so it is possible they were not married by 1901.
Your John William having an occupation of civil engineer should stand out from the Ag Labs and I will contact my researchers for the UK to see if any of them have a John William in their family trees that they are keeping secret or a history in the Hampstead area of London. There are John Williams on my listing but none are in the right time frame to be of consideration.
I will get back to you if I find anything.Sorry not to have been of immediate help.
