Lancaster and Pendleton Counties South Carolina
I am trying to sort out the Montgomery men listed here
during the 1790 U.S. Census report.
Pendleton County has:
page 3. Jeremiah Files---Capt. James Hamilton
page 4. William Morrel---"""
Andrew Pickens ESQ.---Capt. William McCaleb
Joel Bradshaw--------- """
page 5. Robert Montgummary Capt.
page 6. James Montgummary--------Capt. John Simpson
page 14. Jonathan Montgummary----Capt. James Hamilton.
******************************************************
Lancaster County has:
page 1. Jas Montgomery
page 2. Jno Montgomery
Jas Montgomery
Hugh Montgomery
page 3. Hugh Montgomery
Jas Montgomery
Robt Montgomery
Wm Montgomery
Nenion Montgomery
Jno Montgomery
Robt Montgomery
Robt Montgomery
Robt Montgomery
Robt Montgomery
************************
Those enumerated in Pendleton County seem to be the
sons and son-in-laws of John Montgomery of Burke County,
North Carolina, with the exception of Jonathan Montgummary
the son of William Montgomery of Orange County, North Carolina.
I wonder why Alexander Montgomery; son of Nenion; was not
enumerated in this 1790 census as he would have been
33 years old?
All Best
Mike
