Rev. John MOODEY son of Robert MOODEY, Esq. of Nor. Ireland orig. from Scotland
Does anyone out there know the ancestral lineage line of Robert MOODEY, Esq. (prob. Moodie or Mudie) who was in Co. L'derry, Nor. Ireland in the 1700's and perhaps his line was there as early as the 1600's, but he is of a Scottish lineage line. I am searching for any info regarding this Robert Moodey, Esq. whose son was the Rev. John MOODEY of the Shippensburg, PA area and Presbyterian minister of the Middle Springs Presbyterian Church for many years.
The names of Robert and John and James etc. are found heavily among our Ydna Moody "cousins" family trees and I believe that this early Robert Moodey, Esq. might be part of our growing family tree as well. While no proof has yet been established to further this, many of the names and locations from where this line of Moodey's came from in Nor. Ireland match up to our other 'cousins' families and many of the families that these lines intermarried with also match up.
These are typically good signs and clues, but Not always.
If anyone here can help I would be most greatful.
Robert MOODEY, Esq. would have been born around c1748.
His son the Rev. John Moodey was born in July 1776.
Thank You.
