Searching for any MOODY branches out there who may link to this line.
Am wondering if this James MOODY of Barnamaghery, Co. Down, Nor. Ireland whose will [PRONI records] dated Mar. 7, 1871 names daug. Mary Ann MOODY, son James Moody, son William MOODY "in America", grandson James MOODY also "in America", and daughter Margaret PATTERSON (nee MOODY) still in Ireland I guess and her son James Patterson, has any links to the following family I found in the 1870 MD census?

This was the only William MOODY born in Ireland around a seemingly appropriate time frame to be this James MOODY's son, with a son (the grandson) named James MOODY that fit the bill.

The James MOODY of Barnamaghery, Co. L'derry - his will dated Mar. 7, 1871 names daug. Mary Ann,
son James, son William "in America", grandson James "in America", daug. Margaret Patterson and
grandson James Patterson. Names Hugh MOODY of Clontinaglare and his son James Moody as Executors
of his will. We are quite certain that this branch of the MOODY family links back to those of the Henry MOODY line who came over from Scotland. This Henry MOODY supposedly had a son Thomas MOODY who married Mary GAGE and they had several sons John, Matthew, Hugh Gage Moody etc.
I personally believe there may be some link here to an Andrew MOODY as well, just due to some naming patterns and other noticable similarities.

Taking the date of James' will into consideration and then searching the U.S. Census' from 1860 fowards
for a William MOODY who could possibly be this James MOODY's son, and also taking into consideration the
estimated date of birth for his son William at around c1837 in Ireland, AND finding a Wm. Moody born around this time in Ireland with a son named James Moody born in America was also key and I found the following which
I believe to be highly likely this James' son.

1870 _______, St. Mary's Co., MD date July 27th -
William MOODY age 33 keeping big hollow(??) b. IRELAND (please make note of this)
Mary A. age 27 (b.c1843) in Nova Scotia (make note of this too)
James MOODY age 2 b. Maryland
William MOODY age 6 months old b. MD (born in January it says)
and a Thomas Lloyd age 67 sailor b. Wales

1880 Baltimore, MD - June 3rd
William MOODY age 43 mariner b. England (now he says he was born in England as are both parents???)
Mary age 38 wife b. Ireland (now she says she's b. Ireland and so were both her parents?? Sounds to me like these folks were trying avoid Naturalization laws or something)
James B. MOODY son age 12 (b.1868) Maryland
William J. 11 son (born Jan. 1870 see above census) b. MD
Edward A. 9 son
Mary A. 6 daug.
Louisa W. 4 daug.
Andrew B. son age 1 all kids born in Maryland [Note naming a son "Andrew"]
and a Catherine READ age 27 servant b. VA VA VA
and her son William READ age 2 b. MD

1900 Baltimore, Baltimore Co., MD - June 4th lived on Ann St.
William MOODY b. May 1837 age 63 married 34 yrs. b. MA Scotland Ireland (now he says he was born in
Massachusetts??? and that his father was born in Scotland and his Mother born in Ireland...again, my best guess is that William
was never naturalized and in an effort to avoid being tossed out of the country he gave false places of birth)
William's occupation was Lighthouse Keeper.
Mary A. - wife b. May 1842 age 58 had 10 kids 9 living b. MD IRE IRE (now she says she was born in
Maryland?? and her parents born in Ireland)
James B. son b. Feb. 1868 age 32 single b. MD lighthouse keeper
William J. son b. Jan. 1870 age 30 single b. MD
Edward A. son b. Feb. 1872 age 28 single b. MD

Louisa A. daug. b. Oct. 1876 age 23 sales lady b. MD
Andrew B. son b. July 1879 age 20 b. MD
Harvey E. son b. Aug. 1881 age 18 b. MD
Unice [sic? Eunice?] A. daug. b. June 1884 age 16 b. MD
and Ethan A. MOODY son b. Feb. 1887 age 13 at school b. MD

1910 ______, St. Mary's Co., MD - Apr. 19th
William MOODY age 73 married 43 years b. MA MA MA(???) - keeping Government Light
Mary A. wife age 68 b. MD Ireland Ireland
James B. MOODY son age 42 single b. MD - tinner - general work
William J. son age 40 single sailor on a steamship
Edward A. son age 38 clerk in a lumber factory
Andrew B. son age 33 (I think it says 33) farmer, general farming - All can read and write -

1920 Baltimore, Baltimore Co., MD - Jan. 27th
Harvey E. MOODY head of house age 38 single b. MD MA Ireland - his ethnicity is listed as "Irish"
as are his brothers - he is a laborer in a Government company or camp
James B. - brother age 51 single - stevedore on a steamship
William J. brother age 49 watchman for the oil works
Mary A. WACHSMOUTH (???) age 45 -sister- no job
Alma L. AUFFARTH (???) niece(daug. of one of his siblings) age 18 b. MD MD MD pianist for the moving pictures
William A. "" (her son) but listed as Harvey's grand-nephew - age 1 yr. old b. MD

By the 1930 Census I can only find the brother William J. MOODY, everyone else must have either died
or they moved away or are under another name or they too gave false places of birth etc. because I cannot find
them as easily as in the previous years.

I did find William John MOODY (so we now know what the "J" stood for in his middle name), roomer, age 60 - single
b. MD MA MD and he's still a watchman living in Baltimore, Maryland.

I did find William and Mary's youngest child Ethan A. MOODY too, he was now age 43 married at age 33 yrs. old
b. MD MA and Irish Free State (thought that was interesting that he gives his father's birthplace as
Massachusetts and his mothers as the Irish Free State), anyway, Ethan was a bookkeeper for an Insurance comp.
Edna K. MOODY - wife age 33 married at age 23 b. MD MD MD
They had 2 daughters both born in MD who could still be living so didn't put there names on here for their family's privacy sakes.
This is also from the 1930 Baltimore, MD census dated May 17th. Ethan and family lived on Joppa Rd.

Just as a reminder, these are ~possibly~ and the most likely candidates to be the "son William MOODY in America"
and "grandson James MOODY in America" named in that James MOODY's will of Barnamaghery, Co. Down, farmer
whose will was dated March 7, 1871 (so by 1871 his grandson James MOODY...his namesake was already born
in MD in 1868 to his son William Moody...IF this is the correct family link that is, and as I said, from
my best efforts, they seem the only plausible ones).

I believe this James MOODY of Barnamaghery to Possibly be a brother of or relative of Andrew Moody and also
because he names Hugh Moody of Clontinagale and his son James Moody of Barnamaghery as his Executors
there is an obvious link to the Henry MOODY line whose son Thomas MOODY m. Mary GAGE etc. etc.

That's all for now....hope this additional info turns out to be the correct link. Hope I didn't make
too many typo's.
