Here is a ~Possible~ lineal link to our Ydna Alexander MOODY b.c1746 who m. Priscilla DICK who lived in Lenamore/Magilligan, Co. L'derry, Nor. Ireland.
I believe that Alexander's Grand-Parents were the John MOODIE/Moody of Clare/Tandragee, Co. Armagh who married Elizabeth SHANNON and that it was either them or some other line who had a son named John MOODY, Jr. b.c1716 who leased the land in "Lenymore" [sic Lenamore] in Nov. 1741 from Hodgson GAGE.
I believe this John MOODY b.c1716 was the Father of our Ydna Alexander MOODY (b.c1746).
It was either the line of John MOODY or perhaps the early James MUDY/Mudie from the Ballykelly Presbyterian church records who were the lineal line of our Ydna Alexander MOODY.
I feel very strongly about this given that the names "John", "James" and "Alexander" repeat over and over again within his branch.
Looking at Estimated birth years for the John Moodie/Moody of Clare/Tandragee...gives him an est. birth year of around c1676, that means that if he indeed did have a son named John MOODY that he could have been born around c1716 when John, Sr. was around 40 yrs. old.
The fact that John, Jr. leased land in Nov. 1741 indicates that he was at least age 21 by that date, but I think he was probably a bit older...perhaps around age 25 or so, so his estimated birth year of around c1716 fits well.
Also from the fact that again about 13 or so years later, John MOODY renewed his lease of this land for an additional 14 yrs. would also seem to indicate he was not an extremely elderly man in 1741 under his orig. 9 yr. lease.
So, this John MOODY, Jr. of "Lenymore" in 1741 could very well be the Father of Alexander MOODY b.c1746. In c1746 John Moody, Jr. would possibly have been in his 30's when son Alexander was born. This fits very well too.
Then Alexander and Priscilla Dick MOODY have son John MOODY b.Oct. 1774 who m. Mary HOPKINS and they have several children, but one of them Abraham James Hopkins MOODY b. 1809 married first to Elizabeth Ann SHANNON and 2nd to Elizabeth HOPKINS. [I think in my previous message I called this son "Alexander" James Hopkins Moody...my Error, he was "Abraham".]
Anyway, there IS a Possible link here with the MOODY - SHANNON family again.
From an online genealogy at Rootsweb I found a Grace MOODY b.in 1893 Kapunda, So. Australia who m. a William L. SHANNON b. Jan. 1887 in same place. There is no doubt they both most likely link back to some of these MOODY's and SHANNON's above as well.[William L. SHANNON was son of James Kelly SHANNON and Christina McKenzie SCOTT...if this info is correct that is].
Also from the SHANNON genealogy this line goes back to the William SHANNON b.c1788 who m. Jane HOPKINS in Nor. Ireland and they had at least 2 sons Abraham SHANNON b. 1820 and David SHANNON b. 1822 who was said to have been born in Limavady, Co. L'derry, Nor. Ireland) both went to So. Australia in the 1840's and then their father William also went to Austra. as well.
This James Kelly SHANNON above descends from (David Shannon b. 1822)these very SHANNON's who we KNOW to have links to our MOODY's of Magilligan, Nor. Ireland.
Also listed in this genealogy are John MOODY who m. Mary CAMPBELL and had daug. Margaret Ann MOODY b. 1862 in Truro, So. Australia, and she married John Miller INGLIS supposedly married in her father's house in Kilkerran, S. Australia. John M. INGLIS' parents were from Scotland (his mother was nee Miller).
The John MOODY who m. Mary CAMPBELL I mentioned above, that John MOODY was a son of John MOODY b.Oct. 1774 who m. Mary HOPKINS in Co. L'derry, Nor. Ireland who was a son of Alexander MOODY (b.c1746) and Priscilla DICK of Lenamore/Magilligan, Co. L'derry, No. Ire.
See the connections and many links here between these families?? It just continues on and on...but there are many reasons why I feel strongly that the early John MOODIE/MOODY b.c1676 who m. Elizabeth SHANNON most likely has a connection to the Alexander MOODY b.c1746 in Lenamore/Magilligan.
I just wish we could prove this via Ydna test results.
Hope this additional info is helpful or may lead to more discoveries of our inter-connected Genetic/bloodline families.
