Giles Moody / Mode ~1595 – 1667: my 9th g-grandfather
I have his wife's name, Jane Salmon, and that he drowned and when he was naturalized, etc., but it is farther down on the tree where things get confused. The Moody name follows through the family onto the Burt line from Virginia to the Carolinas and Alabama and into Texas. That's something to be taken up on the Burt Family Genealogy Forum, of course.
I'm curious about the DNA testing. Please excuse me if this is terribly uninformed, but I wonder how they can test DNA past a couple of generations since the scientific ability is barely 25 years old. Would a basic explanation be possible? I'd like to do it; I'm just perplexed. Thanks in advance.
