I received notice of your relatives 25 marker results and I see that you are Really distantly related to our group.
At 12 markers and at 25 generations you are only 71.75% related. At 25 markers its about the same distance...around 72% related.
Just to give you a comparison, I am 1 marker off to a Moody family in Nova Scotia and the "TIP" report says that at 25 generations I am 99.73% that we share a common ancestor, meaning that we are Very closely related.
Even at 10 generations he and I are 90.61%, so that gives you an idea of the distance I am speaking of.
For another comparison to the Thomas Moody and Jean McQuiston line, at 25 markers and at 25 generations, I match to that line at 98%. That is consistent throughout that entire line except with one other person and they have about 2 or 3 markers off from me at 25 makers and they are 92.26% related or that we share a common ancestor.
Even to the Alexander MUDIE/Moody and his wife Priscilla DICK branch I am still related to them or share a common ancestor at 25 markers and 25 generations, it is the same as for the Thomas Moody line...its 98%.
So by these numbers alone, you can see that your branch is more distantly related to us, but still nontheless, related. You do however seem to share ~Perhaps~ a closer relationship with another Moody of our branch whose ancestors were in Darlington, SC and they ended up in Texas.
They too are at a mis-match to us that gives a result at 25 markers and sharing a common ancestor at around 72%.
Without knowing what your full 25 marker Ydna result numbers are yet, I can't compare them to ours or the branch from SC to compare them, but perhaps you are more closely related to his branch than our Thomas Moody line.
I don't know for certain as I said...I can only compare to what My results are with yours from the report I am receiving.
You are still part of our larger and ever growing family tree however and this in no way diminishes that. We are Always Glad to find a new family member so again, Welcome to our Moody branch of Norwegian/Scottish/North Irish/North American(including Canada)/Australian/New Zealand line!! (grin)
