After reviewing a Rev. War roster for the 4th NY regt., I noticed that a James and John MOODY and a James Munday, were all listed. This gives me reason to believe that this James and John Moody were the Loyalist spy brothers orig. from Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. In Susan B. Shenstones book on Lt. James Moody she gives tons of references to his (James) being in NY, but I don't actually see where he was an enlisted member of the 4th NY. However, I do have the NARA records for this James and I will have to see if I can find them again, but I seem to remember tat he was "out of camp" a LOT! Perhaps due to his spying raids etc.
I think James 4th NY regt. info is posted to this site.
I don't know for certain about these two Moody men from the 4th NY regt., but it seems ironic to find the same names in this regiment which is so close to New Jersey.
If I find anything further I'll post it.
