John S. MOODY b.1791 Pittston, ME and wife Eleanor CRESSEY...
I have conflicting information from what Barbara B. posted in her Scribner MOODY post and am hoping someone can help resolve some of this.
This is what I have...
John S. MOODY b. Feb. 15, 1791 Pittston, Kennebec Co., Maine, son of Scribner and Sarah(Smith)(Bean)MOODY, married Sept. 20, 1809 in Whitefield, Kennebec Co., ME to Eleanor CRESSEY who was said to have been a Penobscot Indian born at Old Town, ME (I have never found anything to support this so far...there are no Cressey families listed in the early Old Town VR's nor Bangor VR's, or the Corinna, ME VR's. There has much speculation about her Indian link, but so far no real proof.
Anyway, I have that Eleanor was born c1794 and that she died around c1838, possibly giving birth to her daughter Mary Ann MOODY born May 15, 1838.This is the last child that Eleanor gave birth to. Other children were:
Scribner, b. 1811
Smith b. *I have born 1812 but noticed that Barbara B. has Smith and Charles listed as Twins being born on April 15, 1815.
Charles b. - twin of Smith's b.1815
** I had no son named Lewis for them but it fits so am adding him here - Lewis b. 1816
John b. June 1820 (per Pittston VR's)
Martha and Matthew (twins) b. July 1822 (which I didn't realize until just now, that this makes TWO sets of Twins)!
** I had no son named Jonathan either but he has a birth year of 1823 so will add him as well.
Eleanor b. 1826
Gilman b. 1828
*** I have no Mildred but she was born 1829 so am adding her.
*** I have no daughter Sarah but she was born 1831
*** I have no daughter Clara but she was born 1834
Elizabeth born 1836 Pittston (per VR's) died 1839 Pittston.
Mary Ann MOODY born May 15, 1838.

John S. MOODY married 2nd after Eleanor died to Mrs. Betsey (Nash) DUDLEY on Feb. 3, 1841 in Pittston, ME.
John and Betsey had a daughter named Audra Ann or Adrian MOODY born Nov. 5, 1841 in Pittston, ME.Betsey died after April 12, 1865.
John S. Moody died Feb. 20, 1863 in Pittston, Maine and is buried there.

Under the notes I have for Gilman MOODY son of John S. Moody and Eleanor Cressey....
Contra Costa Co., CA Biographical story from c1917 regarding a Percy J. MOODY.
"Percy J. MOODY born in Maine Dec. 4, 1859 son of Gilman and Ellen MOODY (deceased), both natives of Kennebec, Maine.Mr. Moody's parents had nine children, 8 of whom are still living. One brother came to the Pacific Coast and makes his home in Fresno Co., CA.
Percy J. Moody was educated in public schools in Maine and in 1879 at the age of 19 came to CA and located on Walnut Creek where he learned the blacksmith trade with his Uncle J. S. HUNTINGTON, who was among the early pioneers of that area.
Mr. Moody remained in the employ of his Uncle for 3 years when he took over the shop and operated it for one year. He then removed to Brentwood, CA where he engaged in business for nearly 2 years.
He then again engaged in the blacksmith business at Brentwood.
On Aug. 6, 1885 he married Mattie E. PIERCE.He (Percy) had 80 acres of choice land and set out 20 acres of orchard. He disposed of 20 acres to Frank AYER and 10 acres to Alfred CARLSON.
Mr. Moody served as Roadmaster for 12 years and his recent appointment in the same capacity will extend for another 4 years.
Percy and his wife have 3 children:
1.Nellie May MOODY b. Aug. 6, 1886 who married Charles ELSWORTH of Knightsen, CA.
2. Rollin H. MOODY b. Sept. 1888 married Miss Jean WHITE a native of CA on Dec. 1, 1907 and they have one daughter Violet Martha Moody b. 1908.
3. John MOODY b. Dec. 16, 1901.
At present he (Percy) is connected with the Bridgeford Dairy Company.Mr. Moody is affiliated with the Republican party and has attended the county convention for many years.
He has served as trustee on the local school board and is a member of the Foresters Lodge of Brentwood and I.O.O.F. of Byron".
It continues on saying basically that Percy has been successfully engaged in ranching and horticulture and is quite prominent in eastern Contra Costa Co., California.

If anyone can clarify some of the other info or offer a Source for the records of children born to John S. Moody and Eleanor Cressey that would be great!I have an idea Eleanor died from birthing so many children! She was just about having a child every year and if the Two sets of Twins is true...13 kids?? well, that would pretty much do do anyone in!! They must have been like Ma and Pa Kettle!! (laughs)
