I just did a quick search of the IGI records at Family Search and found the following info
Jean McQUISTON married James MATHISON on Apr. 20, 1770.
Jean McQUESTIN (sic) and James MATHISON had a son John MATHISON christened on May 8, 1774 at Knockabay, Wigtown, Scotland.
James MATHESON had a daughter Margaret MATHESON b. Jan. 17, 1771 at Inch, Wigtown, Scotland (my guess is that this is the daughter of James and Jean McQuiston MATHESON mentioned in the Early Scots of America too).
Also found a James MOODIE b.1787 at Newton Stewart, Wigtown, Scotland who married Mary PEARSON c1814 same place.
This James MOODIE died in 1854 but place is not given and there is No Source for this info listed (all others are from the OPR's of Scotland).
This James MOODIE and Mary PEARSON were listed as having children - Mary, James and John MOODIE.
A John MOODIE b. Sept. 1832 at Newton Stewart, Wigtown, Scotland was said to have married an Elizabeth McWHIRTER AULD in 1856 same place.
She died in 1894 ONTARIO, CANADA
They had at least one daughter Elizabeth Jean MOODIE b. 1865 in Hamilton, ONTARIO.
Wigtownshire, Scotland is on the same side of Scotland as Ayrshire but a good bit South of Ayr.
Close to the side of Ireland.
