Helen,A Skipton website shows a "Syke House" in Raikes Road which is now advertised as a Guest house. Many beautiful old homes are used as Bed and Breakfast /Guest Houses now. There were many Moorhouse families in the Skipton area for several centuries so it would be worthwhile looking around this area for your ancestors.I don't know if this old home was owned by Moorhouse families , but perhaps you could look up the telephone number/address on the internet and contact the current owners of the house to see if they know of the history of the house...or look for Moorhouse names in the census of the area or Baines Directory....There is also a "Syke House" in Penrith,Cumbria, Lancashire advertised as an Alpaca Stud. Good luck with your detective work.
