I have done some extensive research on the Moorhouses in the Padiham/Burnley/Whalley/Sabden/Pendleton area of Lancashire. This is my family area too, so we are most likely related distantly.
Unfortunately, this area is also one of the most complicated to research because the Moorhouse name was misspelt as Morris by the ignorant clerics of the day for a period of about 140 years [1620's to 1760's]in the local registers. Prior to that it was correctly spelt but with variations as can be expected.
Why it is complicated is that there were also true Morris families in the area during this period, and some lines of Moorhouse appear to have adopted the incorrect spelling, notably in the Altham > south and Blackburn areas.
My direct lineage comes through the Rev. James Moorhouse who was born at Sabden in the 1760's and baptised as James Morris, Married as James Moorhouse at Whalley yet baptised one of his sons [Enoch] using the Morris name and the others using Moorhouse. James' parents and grandparents are recorded as Morris.
Just at present I haven't had time to connect your George to my lines but he is on my records. Try searching Morris for suitable baptisms for George. I will make further contact re this family using your e-mail.
Cheers Mark Moorhouse
