Thank you for your reply. I do not have any reason to believe Robert went to America either. Your theory seems to fit in with the family stories of Robert "marrying" a servant girl who was Catholic who then died. There was no mention of a child from this union. When Robert married Sarah it was said that the children were brought up as Catholics despite Robert and Sarah being C.E. The Moorhouses, being devout C.E, probably found this inexplicable and the story goes that Robert was disinhereted. I have little evidence of this other than some of Robert's decendants being Catholic. If you have any other information about this I would love to know.
