Thanks for such interesting information - The seven living children of James & Grace - I only have a James Born 1793 in Burnley and a John born abt. 1800 also in Burnley. I have also found a William b. 1798. Maybe they were born in a different area? Could they be the missing two?
I have also found the marriage of James & Grace in Burnley abt. 1787. Also the Christening of Grace on 3 Apr 1763 - father Robert Riley no mention of mothers name. (LDS records)
According to my findings James (James & Grace's son) married a Mary Tomlinson b 1804 in Whitewell Bottom Their children were James 1821 b. Rawtenstall, Isiah 1828 Whalley, Collinge 1837 Whalley, Sarah 1837 Whalley, John 1839 Whalley, Elizabeth 1842 Whalley, William 1844 also born Whalley. Their son James married Mary Dearden, who had seven children (of which I have the names.) I cannot vouch for this information - I got this from a genealogist friend of mine in England who had I think got it from a descendant who lives in Canada and was researching this line. Mark can you verify any of this?
Alan Moorhouse's research sounds as if it goes along these lines as well and if they are fact we could ALL be related!!
I will keep in touch Mark and taken note of your address. I do have a little about the Stangeways and the other Moorhouse's and the father and brothers/sisters of William Moorhouse (Yorkshire).
Which at the moment needs sorting out - I think my Family Tree is up to date on my computer but will need to look it up. I actually correspond with a group of people who all have the Moorhouse name or connected with a Moorhouse in England - only a few of them are related but it's fun and I have had a lot of help from one of them who is into genealogy in a big way. They all live in various parts of the World.
Avon & I have four grown up children being David, Alison, Craig & Paul. Alison has two young children as does Craig. So our line is being continued with Craig's two boys. Avon is not in that great a health - he had a stroke a couple of years ago and finds life quite difficult at times with the things he can't do anymore. Avon has another cousin in Whakatane who is also into Genealogy and has helped me quite a bit too. That is Norm Lovegrove - do you know of him?
Keep in touch. Faye
