Hello,
I have tried to find a link between our Mordey families in Sunderland. So far, I haven't been able to confirm a connection, but was able to trace the following info that might be of interest:
1891 Census - at 1 Wellington Road, Bishopwearmouth, Sunderland: Found William G. Mordey ("born 1889"), with parents Joseph Mordey ("b.1867"), a Dock Labourer, and Sarah J Mordey ("b.1868").
1881 Census - at 22 Malings Rig, Sunderland: Found Joseph G. Mordey ("born 1866"), with parents Edward Mordey ("b.1817"), a Pilot, and Margaret Mordey ("b.1827")
1871 Census - at 22 Malings Rig, Sunderland: Found Joseph "H." Mordey ("born 1866"), with parents Edward Mordey ("b.1825"), a Pilot, and Margaret Mordey ("b.1823").
1861 Census - at 22 Malings Rig, Sunderland: Found Edward T. Mordey ("b.1819"), a Pilot, with wife Margaret Mordey ("b.1824").
1851 Census - at 22 Malings Rig, Sunderland: Found EdwardMordey (transcribed MARDY) ("b.1819"), a Pilot, with wife Margaret Mordey ("b.1824").
1841 Census - at Pilton Colliery, Chester Le Street: Found EdwardMordey (transcribed MORDY) ("b.1826"), with parents Henry Mordey("b.1791") and Hannah Mordey ("b.1796").
IGI - Marriage dated 21 NOV 1813 (batch no. M000581) between Henry MORDEY and Hannah ROWE in Chester Le Street, Durham, England.
